The Hawthorne Suite
The US Consul and famous author, Nathaniel Hawthorne would have felt very much at home in this grand and spacious 1-bedroom suite.
Posted in Liverpool for the full four-year term of the lucrative consulate role and remaining for a further two years, Hawthorne spent his days at Mrs Blodget’s Guest House in the mid-1850s working on his literature.
He wrote of his son sliding down the banisters….Do they still exist? What remains of the panelled smoking room, library, and dining room that the Yankee clipper captains relaxed in?
The 1 bedroom displays flecks of colour and eccentric touches amongst a contemporary design. It boasts a generous space spread over two floors, with 2 beds and a sofa bed comfortable for a 6-person stay. The living space is complete with a kitchen area, dining table and lounge area.
To take comfort in residing in the humble abode of Mrs. Blodget and her hospitable house staff it is advised to book directly. On our books, you may find that you shave a shilling or two!
